Finger Biscuits and Custard

January 20, 2011

Right up until our Christmas holiday, my boys were getting some kind of dessert after their evening meal. It could be a fruit salad, ice cream or when I’m feeling particularly industrious a dessert of some sort. Whilst on holiday this tradition suddenly disappeared. Although we still enjoyed desserts, it wasn’t every evening. My own body started showing signs of thanks for this. Since we’ve been back home, the dessert has taken somewhat of a back seat. The boys must have begun feeling a little abandoned of sorts, so last week before dinner they asked, “What’s for dessert?” I knew I would have to concoct something fast! Behold, home made custard! Served in a pretty blue ramekin that Donna Hay would approve of with finger biscuits to dip and scoop up the creamy loveliness. Simple, quick, delicious and pretty healthy too! Actually it is just a deconstructed  Zuppa Inglese. The recipe for the custard can be found here.
